چکیده

Content-centric networking (CCN) adopts a receiver-driven, hop-by-hop transport approach that facilitates in-network caching, which in turn leads to multiple sources and multiple paths for transferring content. In such a case, keeping a single round trip time (RTT) estimator for a multi-path flow is insufficient as each path may experience different round trip times. To solve this problem, it has been proposed to use multiple RTT estimators to predict network condition. In this paper, we examine an alternative approach to this problem, CHoPCoP, which utilizes explicit congestion control to cope with the multiple-source, multiple-path situation. In addition, a parallelized version of CHoPCoP, pCHoPCoP, is designed to support bandwidth aggregation on multi-homed hosts. We have implemented CHoPCoP/pCHoPCoP on the ORBIT testbed and conducted experiments under various network and traffic settings. The evaluation shows that CHoPCoP can effectively deal with congestion in the multipath environment, and pCHoPCoP can maximize the network utilization for a multi-homed host. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. Congestion control in named data networking - A survey

As a typical Information Centric Networking, Named Data Networking (NDN) has attracted wide research attentions in recent years. NDN evolves today’s host-centric network architecture TCP/IP to a data-centric network architecture. It turns the end-to-end connection-oriented transport of TCP/IP into receiver-driven connectionless transport. Compared with the traditional TCP/IP networking, the tra...

Efficient content delivery through fountain coding in opportunistic information-centric networks

Opportunistic networks can increase network capacity, support collaborative downloading of content and offload traffic from a cellular to a cellular-assisted, device-to-device network. They can also support communication and content exchange when the cellular infrastructure is under severe stress and when the network is down or inaccessible. Fountain coding has been considered as especially sui...

Privacy-Aware Caching in Information-Centric Networking

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is an emerging networking paradigm where named and routable data (content) is the focal point. Users send explicit requests (interests) which specify content by name, and the network handles routing these interests to some entity capable of satisfying them with the appropriate data response (producer). One key feature of ICN is opportunistic in-network conte...

TCP based Flow and Congestion Control in Content Centric Networks

Content centric networking (CCN) is a paradigm shift from the way how networks of today work. The focus of networking in CCN is on the content and not on the hosts that are involved in a communication. One of the key cornerstones of today’s communication model is the use of flow and congestion control to pipeline data and take appropriate action when perceived congestion occurs in a network. TC...

Enhanced Forwarding Strategies in Information Centric Networking

Network use has evolved over time to be dominated by content distribution and retrieval, while networking technology is mainly concerned with connections between named hosts. Accessing contents and services require the mapping of what users care about to where the content is located. Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new paradigm in networking and a future Internet architecture which tr...
